What is your name? Matthew Olsen
What made you want to get into teaching?
I am a literature nerd who loves to read and write, and I wanted to motivate students to find literature they are passionate about. Plus, I like hearing myself talk!
What do you like to do when you are not teaching or at school?
Besides reading and writing, I am an avid baseball fan. I have to confess...I'm a Yankees fan. I also enjoy playing with my 3 daughters, camping, grilling with friends, and being a member of the Self-Proclaimed Professional Backyard Bocce Ball Federation (the SPPBBBF).

Did you like school growing up, or did you hate it? Explain.
If I'm being honest, I liked school until probably my Junior or Senior year, then I was "too cool" and wanted to be anywhere else. But I learned later that life would have been much easier had I applied myself fully. And I loved college!
